Description: As a tourist country Yugoslavia is distinguished by numerous contrasts, different languages and religions, styles and traditions, customs and folklores. Its turbulent history and geographic position have given this relatively small country numerous historical and cultural monuments dating from different centuries. Yugoslavia is enhanced by natural beauty spots and geographic contrasts. The Yugoslav section of the Adriatic coast is considered to be one of the loveliest in Europe, with some 1,000 small and large islands and reefs, numerous bays and gulfs and a very clear and warm sea. The interior of the country boasts of numerous lakes, mountain chains broken up by gorges and canyons flatlands, lovely valleys, game-filled forests, rivers perfect for fishing, caves, mineral springs, etc. Many towns, cities and tourist places, ideal for rest and recreation, are situated in this diverse combination of nature.

Description: Time has added greater value to Cracow, making of it a live textbook of Polish history, an open-air museum as it were. Time, however, can also crumble sandstone, shake the foundations of old houses, wash away the murals and rob the history of its witnesses. In people's Poland, the conservation of monuments of culture has become a law. Poles have experienced many turbulent historic events, with World War II on top. For years now, the most precious monuments of Cracow have been protected and renovated.

Description: Situated between the Pannonian plains and the Adriatic Sea, the peaks of the Julian Alps and Povardarje, Yugoslavia covers only a small area (255,804 km2), yet it is a land of great diversity and contrast. Mountains from the country’s backbone, often covered with centuries old forests, studded with silver lakes. They slope down to the countless beaches along the Adriatic Coast. Offshore, the Thousand Islands form a chain of sun-kissed jewels-some, resort areas in themselves, some little more than jagged rock rising from the blue.

The Forest Industry Organization, with potential task force of over one hundred elephants in forest working and extracting of teak in our northern provinces, realizes, the debt of gratitude we owe these beasts of burden, our co-workers, that this booklet is written to introduce to the public the living story of the majestic creature toiling behind Thai teak log admired and well known for centuries.
